He Chongyue is a Beijing based artist born in 1960. He is best known for his use of a handmade, 4 x 10 large-format camera to photograph a series of ancient walls. The large-format camera has allowed He to capture the exquisite detail of original texts dating back centuries, as well as more recent texts, carved or plastered on top of the old. He Chongyue has been exhibiting in China, Indonesia, and the United States.
