Xing Danwen
Born in 1967 in Xi’an, Xing Danwen is a self-taught photographer, one of few artists in the late 80s and 90s in China to explore the boundaries between documentary photography and photography as an art form. With an Asian Cultural Council fellowship, she went to New York to do her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in 1998-2001. Xing exhibits domestically and internationally and her work has been collected widely by museums and private collectors. She currently lives and works in Beijing.
