Born in Dongming County, Shandong Province in 1979, Song Chao has worked as a miner in Shandong’s Yankuang Group since September 1997. He began to take up photography in 2001. In 2002 he received the Chinese National Photography Award. He is currently studying at the Beijing Film Academy as a postgraduate student.
